New hobby...knooking

Hey there everyone in blog land. Been a really long time since I have been here.
I am super busy working. I think Family Dollar owns me.LOL
Anyway, I have taken up a new hobby and thought I would tell you a little bit about it.
It's called knooking and it is like crocheting and knitting combined. I like to knit dishcloths, but am always dropping stitches, and this helps with it. The way it works is you have a crochet hook with a long cord tied to it. You work a chain and then you crochet by yarning over and keep the stitch on the hook in each chain stitch, that is your foundation and then you slide it onto the cord and turn and then you slip the needle thru the loop and pull thru and keep on going until you get to the end and then you slide it onto the cord and turn, just keep repeating it. Now this is as far as I have gotten. I haven't tried any other stitches. But I am just making a plain dishcoloth using the knit stitch.

this is how far I have gotten on my dishcloth. See, all of my stitches are on the needle, and the red cord is running thru it, this is the last stitch.

now, I grab the red cord and pull it thru to the right and then slide the loops onto the cord.

then turn it and start a new row. simple. There are several tuts on youtube for this. I like it so far.

Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays.

Hi everyone. Haven't been on here in a loooong time.

Busy working. Know how that goes, right?

I am working on some Christmas things and will post them later.

I just wanted to pop in and say Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas, whichever it is you prefer.

Some people get so out of whack if you say Happy Holidays anymore. They get real defensive and say you're trying to take the "Christ" out of Christmas, whatever that means.

I don't know about you, but I say Happy Holidays because I don't want to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. People usually start saying it around Thanksgiving. Would be a big mouthful to say "Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" "Happy Holidays" shortens it a little and it also includes people of other religions who celebrate holidays this time of year. I always thought that Christians were supposed to be accepting of others and live in harmony, while preaching the gospel but not being judgemental. I know that's hard to do in this day and age, but we should try. You know it isn't like anyone who wishes you a Happy Holiday is telling you to go to Hell. So, I think people need to lighten up on this subject. We're all going to be afraid of getting told off if we open our mouths to say either one and that's just no good. So, now I feel better getting that off my chest. I will post some Christmas/ Holiday stuff later. Wishing you all a Happy Holiday Season.

Good evening everyone.
I know it has been a while since I posted.
Just didn't know it was that long.
Been busy with life and working.
Doesn't leave much time to play.
I have been thinking of deleting this blog, but decided against it.
There are no rules as to how often you have to post, right?
So every now and then I get creative and want to play and share my work.
Sounds good to me.
So here is my latest creation.
I thouhgt it would be cute for kids, you know how they are always making faces.
Now, I am still getting used to sizes and stuff. This is a psp file and it is in layers.

Geesh, it's been a long time since I have been on here.
I hope everyone is doing well.
I am doing fine. I think spring has finally arrived in WV.
Although we can do without all this rain.
I am getting anxious to put the garden out and plant some flowers.
I came up with a new wordart for you.
Still haven't came up with a tut yet.
Don't know if I ever will, but I can dream about it, I guess.
Until then I will stick to papers and wordart and pattern fills and such.

Love Papers

Well, it's getting closer to Valentine's Day!
Love is in the air.
At least snuggling is. It is soooo cold.LOL
I have been making some stuff is PSP.
Some of these are old papers and some are new.
I am not too good at making elements.
So I stick to word art and papers.
I also like to make pattern fills.
I have some of those started for Valentine's Day, so I will

Greatest Love

Well, it's finally February!
Not much longer and Spring will be here.
It's warm out here today and it feels like it already.
I have cabin fever so bad.
I hope we have a good March.
They say if Feb. is warm, it will be bad in March.
Who "they" are, I have no clue.
So, I have made a Love wordart for you to enjoy.
I am making some more Love related stuff for this month so keep
an eye out for that.
This month is also heart health month.
Any way you can get involved, you should to raise awareness
of heart disease, especially in women.
I have CAD and have a stent in my artery.
I am only 45 years old and I have had trouble since my 20's.
It runs in my family, plus I have an addiction to junk food.
So, when your Dr. tells you to lose weight and excersize and change
your diet, you should do it.

OK, I was gone for a while.
Did you all have a great Christmas?
Mine was pretty good.
I work in retail so I am glad when it is over.
I can't believe that it is already mid January.
We have had a lot of snow and I am ready for the Spring.
Well, Valentines Day will be here in a month.
I still have to remind my husband what day it is on.LOL
It's the same day every year!
I very rarely get anything, because HE thinks it is a made up holiday.

Well, I have came up with this little template, it's tagger size.

Snow Angels

Hi everyone! Are you all enjoying the cold weather?
Me, not so much. I think it arrived way too early here.
But, that's just me. Seems so anyway. Seems like everyone wants to go out
and have snowball fights and make snow angles.
I'll just sit inside where it is nice and warm and watch.LOL
So, that gave me an idea for a wordart. I am really getting into this wordart thing.
Very fun! I like making papers, too, not too good at making elements.
So, I'll just stick with what I am good at, or at least have the most fun doing.

Winter Wonderland!

Well, we here in WV have had our first snowfall of the season.
It won't be the last, though.
I am not a big fan of snow.
I think it is pretty to look at, but I don't like getting out in it and driving.
I am very accident prone and I am always afraid of falling.
Don't do that too often, but when I do, it's a doozy.
I found this cute little font on my computer while I was playing around in psp today
and thought it would make a cute winter word art. It's a free font, and as always all my work is free

I think it is so cute to use on pictures of your little ones.
I don't think there's a mom or dad out there who doesn't want to keep their children
little forever, I hated for mine to get older than 6. Six is a fun age.
But we always have our memories and that's what scrapbooking is all about;

Been a while since I have been on. I've come across some little poems for children and thought they would make great word art. They are in standard size for digital scrapbooking and not tag making. But you can resize them. If you use them in anything email them to me and I will show them on here. This little poem goes up to 6, it's by one of my favorite children's writers A. A. Milne. Candles!

I used to make candles a few years back, never was an expert, but I sold a few and made some as gifts, it's a fun hobbie to have and I thought I would blog about it, I have pictures, too.
Now, I am not a photographer at all, these were made with my little digital polaroid.
First, you need some wax, I have container wax, I bought at a candle supply place.
I think it is called low shrink container wax J-50. You will also need a candy thermometer, I find this works well, you need not buy a special candle thermometer. A pouring pot, wicks, I have 51-32-18z, an old pot to use as a double boiler, dye blocks to color your wax with and some scent. Also need some stick wickums or glue to make your wick stick to the bottom of the container.
OK let's get started.
Make sure your containers are clean and dry. Here is what I used for my pumpkin pie candles

Now you need to get your pot and fill it with some water, not all the way full, because the heavy pour pot will make it come up a little further.

Now put your wax into the pot. I use about 2 pounds or 3 sometimes.
Just keep an eye on it and stir it from time to time until it melts, after it's melted, shave off some of your dye block. I use quite a bit, because I like them to have a lot of color. I used a wooden spoon, so after you put a little of your dye in, just scoop up little on your spoon to see if it is the color you like, because when it dries, it will be a little lighter.

this is orange, but it will dry a lot lighter than this.
after you have stirred up your dye and is thoroughly mixed, then add your fragrance.
Directions say to use 1 -1 1/2 oz. per pound of wax. I like mine really scented, so I double it.
Stir your fragrance for about a minute and when your wax has reached 160-165 on your thermometer, it is ready to pour. Hold your wic straight and pour in the wax to the point you want it. You can leave a small amount in the pot so if you need to top it off later, you can. Some waxes shrink a tad after cooling.

So, that is really all there is to making container candles.
This is as far as I have gotten. I would like to get into making the grubbies and pllars and stuff.
I also wan to make sachets with the crushed corncob. I will post it when I do it.

Animal Magnetism

I came up with this little scrap kit for ya.
It all started when I was going thru my patterns in my PSP and
just happened to see these and thought I would make some pretty frames with them, then
I just had to make the papers and accents. I love animal prints, they never seem to go out of style.
And Zebra print is really big this year.
I don't know where I got these patterns from, but they sure are pretty.

Gradient Flowers

I am a roll, I tell ya!
Been busy, busy, busy today.
So, I came up with these little gradient flower accents.
Now I have them as a psp file and didn't zip them , so I hope it works the same.

Wheww! It has been a loooong, hot summer here in Wild Wonderful WV!
Roasting! So, I have been in the a/c when I am not working and trying to get back to creating some things in PSP for you to enjoy. I came up with this little add- on to my black white and red all over kit. I am still doing some research on tut writing, anyone know of a tutorial on how to write tuts?LOL I seem to think it will be harder than what I hear it is. Hey there fellow scrappers.
I hope this has been a great summer for you so far.
It has been a hot one here in good old WV.
Mostly in the 90's, so I have been inside on my days off from working to make
scrapkits and doing crafts. I recently picked up the knifty knitting hobby.
Love it! I like all sorts of crafts, that can be a problem when you have limited space and time.
But I did come up with this neat little scrap kit for ya. I can't remember the inspiration for it,
but I am happy with the way it turned out, hope you are, too. I used some free fonts and patterns to create it.

I tell you, you would not want to see my folders, they are so disorganized.

Another oldie. Well, not so old, but it was my very first scrapkit I ever made, and I am proud of it. Before my 4shared account was shut down because I hadn't logged on in a long time, anyway I am trying to get everything back up and running and reuploaded to 4 shared using a different zip program. Hello, my fellow bloggies... been a while since I have been on, but my absence has been a productive one. I am learning how to do new things without Windows. I learned how to zip a file, I thought, the last time I posted, but something went wrong and I got frustrated and gave up for a while, I had a St. Patrick's day scrapkit ready to go and couldn't get it to work, but I did get an Easter one done. And it's all ready to go. I can't remember if I posted this one last year or not, but now it is here for those of you who didn't get it. Hope you like it. Long story short, we decided to go with Linux, instead of Windows, so it is a learning curve for me. So, bear with me and I will be back in business soon. Rocky Road Brownies

Be still my heart! These are the easiest, most delicious brownies ever. If you like rocky road, and who doesn't?? Here's what you need:

~1 box family size brownie mix
~2 eggs
~1/4 cup water
~2/3 cup veg. oil
~1/2 cup chopped walnuts
~1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
~1 cup choc. chips

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray bottom of pan with cooking spray.
Empty brownie mix into large bowl, add eggs, water, and oil stir, DO NOT over beat, beat until all ingredients are just mixed. Now add your marshmallows, nuts and choc. chips and stir well, until they are evenly mixed in, now spread the mixture into your pan and spread out gently to the corners and edges of the pan. Bake for about 25-30 minutes. Don't overbake. Voila! Another easy recipe using a boxed mix. They are really yummy! Enjoy!

Easy banana cake recipe

Today I made a great banana cake. It is an easy recipe that you can make with a boxed cake mix. I wish I had a picture to show you, but you'll just have to take my word for it. Here is what you need:

1 box of white cake mix
3 eggs
1 cup water
1/3 cup veg. oil
3 mashed up bananas
1 tsp baking soda

-mash up the bananas with a fork and add 1 tsp baking soda to it and stir it up.
-Preheat oven to 350, grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
-put cake mix in a big bowl add your eggs and water and oil, mix according to box directions.
-add the bananas and completely mix thru, don't over beat, then pour into the pan and bake until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Let cool.
-frost with a cream cheese frosting or the fluffy white that comes in a little tub.
That's it! Easy! I love the versatility of boxed cake mixes, they're easy and you have more time for other things.

My name is Jackie, I am 43 years old happily married to a great guy, mother to a grown son 19 years old. We live in WV. Wild an Wonderful ! Have a lot of animals. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats. My baby is Phoebe, my chihuahua that my husband bought me and I just love her to pieces! I love to make tags in Pait Shop Pro, and am getting into making digital scrapbooking kits. Have yet to make a whole kit, but I am working on it. I love to learn new things about all of the internet stuff; websites, how to do different things, so it is still very much a learning process.
